Uniform Requirements

Uniforms help students to develop pride in their school and respect for their school’s vision and mission. A uniform promotes self-discipline and helps students to respect their peers for who they are, not what they wear.

There are disciplinary consequences for students who do not wear their uniform correctly.

All students are expected to wear their full uniform with pride at the College, at official functions, and as they travel to and from the College. Full summer uniform is required during Terms 1 and 4 and winter uniform during Terms 2 and 3. There is a period of transition to winter uniform provided between the commencement of Term 2 until Mother’s Day, and from Father’s Day until the commencement of Term 4 for summer uniform. While optional, during these periods either full summer or full winter uniform must be worn, not a combination of both.

A label with the student’s name should be on uniform items. An alternative to a label could be writing your child’s name on the label of the clothing with a laundry marker pen.

Appearance

Grooming Boys are to be clean shaven each day and come to school dressed in clean, pressed uniforms.

Hair – Girls Hair of shoulder length or longer must be tied back using black or navy hair elastic. Multiple braid styles, beads or braid decorations are not acceptable.

Hair – Boys Hair should be ‘short and well groomed’, completely off the collar, not over eyes or tucked behind the ears. Trend styles are not permitted, including mullet, shag styles, etc. No visible shaved patterns are allowed on the scalp.

Piercings & Jewellery

Earrings (Girls) – Girls are permitted to wear one plain silver or gold stud earring in each lobe. No other type of earring is allowed, including plastic studs. Earrings are not allowed to be covered with tape.

Earrings (Boys) – Boys are not permitted to wear any type of earring. Earrings are not allowed to be covered with tape.

Other jewellery – Other than the earrings as described for girls, students are not permitted to wear any other type of jewellery e.g. necklaces, bracelets, rings on fingers.

Medical and religious jewellery – Parents who would like their children to wear jewellery for a medical or religious reason should write to their child’s class teacher (Junior School) or Year Advisor (Senior School) to ask permission. A note giving permission will be written in the student’s diary.

Tattoos – students are not allowed to have visible tattoos.

Make Up Students are not to wear make-up.

Nails Nails should be kept short (netball length), natural and conventional – suitable for a school environment. Clear nail polish is permitted. False fingernails are not permitted.

The College asks parents to replace all worn, damaged or ill fitting clothing and shoes.

Chewing gum is banned at school and on all school activities. While in school uniform, students should not chew gum.
